Kata.ai, as one of the pioneers of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology for the B2B market in Indonesia, today (5/12), holds INTERACT 2018, as a means of a discussion on how AI technology can be utilized by business players in implementing digital transformation processes. With the theme of “AI for Intelligent Digital Transformation”, this event is also the launch of the latest conversational AI technology innovation developed by Kata.ai through Kata Platform 3.0.

“During 2017 and 2018, we had many opportunities to work with industry players in Indonesia who began to realize the importance of utilizing AI technology in this increasingly competitive era, but one of the challenges faced by many decision makers from the industry is the lack of information and knowledge regarding the technology itself. This is what prompted us to hold INTERACT 2018 as a way to encourage more discussion on this matter while introducing the latest innovations from our AI products, “said Irzan Raditya as CEO and Co-Founder of Kata.ai regarding this event.

Kata Platform 3.0 is the latest version of Kata Platform which has been launched since 2017 – A platform to develop chatbots (a computer program that utilizes AI to answer questions and perform functions through conversation with the user). Since it was launched, Kata Platform has been used by more than 3.700 developers and the total number of messages for all Kata Platform’s chatbot has reached 400 Million messages. Between all the chatbots, there are chatbots from 30 major corporations such as  Telkomsel, Unilever, Bank BRI, Alfamart, CIMB Niaga, Pegadaian, Zurich Insurance, Wall Street English.

Innovations that will be part of Kata Platform 3.0 includes Text Summarization technology, a feature that can automatically process lengthy text information into a short summary. This can be used to process lengthy information such as news articles into short information that can be easily digested by the user of messaging apps. There is also Voice Chatbot, a feature that allows chatbots developed Kata Platform to process messages in the form of voices from users, so users can interact with it by speaking directly without typing their message. In addition, other features will also be available, such as Project Systems, Modules, CMS Studio, and the Natural Language Prediction API. These features will be part of Kata Platform 3.0 and will be ready for use in 2019.

This innovation is the result of the research and development process of the Kata.ai research team in various scientific papers that have been recognized and presented at various international AI conferences, including the ACL Workshop on Deep Learning Approaches for Low-Resource NLP in Australia, EMNLP Workshop on Noisy User-generated Text in Belgium, and International Conference on Asian Language Processing (IALP) 2018 at Telkom University, Bandung. This is a form of Kata.ai’s commitment to contribute to the advancement of the AI technology from a scientific perspective, not only from product development.

In addition to introducing the latest innovations developed by Kata.ai, INTERACT 2018 also presents business professionals who can provide insight into how Indonesian companies can utilize AI for business development. The speakers are representatives from LINE Indonesia, Halodoc, Mindshare Indonesia & SEA, TCASH, Tempo, and Loket.com. All of these companies have confidence that in the next few years, AI technology will become the main tool used to improve various aspects of business operations ranging from marketing, customer service, to HR management.

“We at Kata.ai believe that artificial intelligence technology is not a threat to human but is a supporting tool that can help us be more productive by automating various repetitive processes. With a better rate of productivity, we will all have more time to solve more complicated problems. That is the ultimate reason why we chose to focus on Conversational AI technology because it will become a ‘bridge’ of interaction between human and computers,” Irzan concluded.
